I challenge myself as i chose to do something I have not done before, an illustration with a 1950′s illustration touch to make it more romantic and classic but mixing it with distorted perspective to add some dynamism to the image, I have to admit it was more difficult than what I expected but at the end it worked out pretty well, I am personally pretty happy with the final result.

This is one of the projects I have been working on as a freelance contractor, this time as part of the super talented Gold tooth creative team, it is such an honor for me to have the chance of being part of a project like this and get to work with such a passionate and talented group.

In this project I was in charge of the character lighting, shader optimization and tweaks for Heller, Black watch soldier and pedestrian.

Here is a comparison between the Straight out of Maya renders the output was only in one pass (Beauty) since the time line wasn’t very generous for this project I needed to make sure to not relay in many passes to get the desired lighting and shading look as that would increase render and comp time, so I made sure the Beauty pass was as close as possible to the desired final look, here is a comparison were you can see how close the Maya render is to the final comp.

This so far has been the most challenging one I have ever done, due to a series of un expected issues that came up while the 3 days of production, from corrupted files to one of my computers hard drive crash, but at the end I manage to deliver on time! and I’m happy with the end result, that’s what matters and makes all the challenges worth!

As usual, I started with pencil and colored it in Photoshop.

I will start with this image I just finished, It is a personal project Concept illustration piece, started with pencil sketch and painted in Photoshop.

I will post my work as often as possible and keep this blog alive.
